Internship @ Nuffic Neso Mexico

The Nuffic Netherlands Education Support Office (Nuffic Neso) in Mexico City is looking for an intern for the first semester of 2020!

Nuffic is the Netherlands organisation for internationalisation in education. We are an independent, non-profit organisation based in The Hague, the Netherlands, and we support the internationalisation of Dutch education and research and help improve access to education worldwide.

Nuffic Neso Mexico is an overseas office of Nuffic and part of a worldwide network of Netherlands Education Support Offices that operates in locations of strategic importance for Dutch higher education.

For our NESO office in Mexico City we are looking for a Dutch intern currently studying in the Netherlands.


What will you be doing?

The main task of the intern at Nuffic Neso Mexico will be to analyse the opportunities for Dutch students to study in Mexico or to do an internship. This includes doing research on English-taught programmes in Mexico, (summer) courses (short-stays), use experiences from current Dutch students in Mexico and people who have had a study in Mexico experience, review  information about visa procedures, scholarships and other practical things attached to studying abroad in Mexico. The final product of the internship will be a report on how to stimulate Dutch people to obtain a study abroad experience in Mexico.

The intern will also be in contact with colleagues of Neso offices in other countries like Russia, China, South Africa and Brazil who already have more experience in the promotion of these countries as a study destination for Dutch students.

Furthermore, the intern will be actively involved in the daily activities of promoting the Netherlands as a study destination among Mexican students.

Activities of the intern will include:

  • Get an overview of the different ways Nuffic Neso Mexico communicates about its activities.
  • Provide advice on next-step to be taken to further improve the current communication strategy.
  • Work on the development of the contents for the WilWeg website.
  • Actively work on creating a Dutch student community in Mexico.
  • Social Media management (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) including the generation of content.
  • Event management: invitations, reminders and follow-up to database.
  • Work on general NESO activities

What should you bring with you?

You fulfil the following requirements:

  • You are a Bachelor or Master degree student from a university or university of applied sciences (WO, HBO)
  • Your field of study is relevant for the internship vacancy and should be in the field of communication, marketing, business, or economics.
  • You are fully proficient in English and have at least a basic command of Spanish (with willingness to learn).
  • You are a responsible, proactive and result-driven individual.
  • You combine an entrepreneurial attitude with good communication skills and interest in the international education sector.
  • You are organized and detail-oriented and can combine multiple tasks at the same time.
  • You enjoy building networks and maintaining relations with external partners like companies, government and education institutions.
  • You consider yourself a communicative person, with an open mind towards living in Mexico.

Usually no visa is required for Dutch citizens to do a non-paid internship in Mexico (max. 6 months), however it is the responsibility of the student to inquire at the Mexican Embassy if in his/her case if there are migratory conditions with which he/she should comply.
